Trauma Counselling
Trauma services include crisis intervention, acute trauma counselling and psychotherapeutic treatment of PTSD. The goal of treatment is trauma recovery and growth. This can include symptom relief, cognitive reprocessing, accommodation of experience, emotion focused coping strategies, and exposure therapies.
I have been a member of the Canadian Psychosocial Emergency Response Team since its inception in 2003. I am certified in Traumatic Incident Reduction, Critical Incident Stress Management, and Incident Command System 200. I have been deployed immediately for large scale disaster events such as SwissAir 111 and 9/11.
I have also assisted organizations and agencies in developing response plans and resources related to trauma. My educational sessions and workshops are tailored to the prevention of the reaction to this type of stress. The topics of sessions I have prepared include Psychological First Aid, Trauma Interventions, Resiliency, Transitional Stress, Peer Staff Training, Threat and Risk Assessment, and Surviving and Thriving in High Intensity Work.
